As we are all aware, teachers are on a tight budget and have a limited amount of time to decorate their classrooms. They come in before school starts to decorate, and then at the end of the year they have to take everything down. No permanent alterations allowed.
Heather, my friend who teaches, took contact paper and covered the back wall of her bookcase in her classroom. It was inexpensive and peeled off easily when she was cleaning and boxing up her supplies at the end of the year.
This is a great idea for a child's room. Kids change their mind about what they like from one moment to the next. One minute it's "Thomas the Train", then it's "Power Rangers" or some other character they have fallen in love with. As they grow the Super Hero's fade away and sports or some other activity replaces it.
Contact paper is a perfect way to decorate a shelf in your child's room. It's very affordable and relatively easy to apply. Use it on the back of a book case, cover some boxes for storage, make a bulletin board, or paper the bedroom door where they can display their artwork.
The contact paper will peel off easily when you decide to change the theme. If it doesn't, don't fret. Hit it with the blow dryer for a few seconds on a warm setting and it should come off. If there is any residue remaining a little isopropyl alcohol should take care of it.
