Do you have a ball of old electronic power cords & chargers hiding in a drawer, closet, shoe box or storage area? It hurts to admit I do. Old cell phones w/ chargers, old laptop batteries that don't hold a charge, chargers for unidentifiable items, and half chewed phone cords the dog ate with electrically tape on them. The list goes on.
Today I had to brave the bundle of cords. It was not fun. It was worse than trying to untangle Grandma's Christmas lights. It took forever to find what I was looking for. I vow to NEVER go through this again.
Items I used: Rubber bands, Duct tape, Sharpie
Separate all cords and identify the ones that match items that you still own, are needed, and work.
Note: if there is electrical tape on it, toss and replace it. You will be very angry if you need it and it doesn't work.
Cut a small piece of duct tape, label it with the name of the item the cord is for, and fold it over the cord close to the wall adapter. If you put it elsewhere it will be in your way.
Roll your cord into a circle, squish it together and wrap the rubber band around it.
- If you have several of the same type of cord, consider sticking them all into a Zip Lock bag before putting it away.
Now they are ready for your drawer, container, basket or cubby. Next time you need something “Viola” you will have easy access.
